Three days before the classes for academic year 2014-2015 officially opened, Mater Dei College warmly welcomed her new students through an orientation program held at the MDC Activity Center. The freshman and transferee students were ushered to their new home for the next two to four years by acquainting them to the school administrators, teachers, and fellow novice students.

After the program preliminaries, Dr. Ceferina H. Ranario, Vice President for Academic Affairs, discussed about matters concerning the academic division. She emphasized that all students are under the academic division since MDC is an academic institution. Next was a song number from one of the IT freshmen. The new students were given a chance to get to know one another through de-inhibitizer activities.

To give students an opportunity to know more about their school, the history of MDC as well as the organizational structure were presented by one of the English instructors, Dr. Jasmin M. Sumipo. A dance number from the MDC Performing Arts served as breather between series of talks. Then, the Vice President for Administration, Dr. Angelica T. Lanoy, tackled administrative concerns. The faculty and staff were introduced by the deans and chairmen of different departments. Matters on finance and registrar were discussed by Mr. Artemio Gulilat, the school’s Certified Public Accountant, and Mr. Jose Rule B. Alampayan, school registrar respectively.

The afternoon session was an equally productive one. Mrs. Lorna Torregosa presented the services offered by the guidance office. Internet hands-on policies were tackled by Mr. Hermie Vistal, internet in-charge. Concerns about students’ affairs and development were aptly addressed by Mrs. Josephine D. Aplacador, the OSADS coordinator. To wind up the orientation program, the new students proceeded on a school tour with the Supreme Student Government officers as their tour guides.
